Offline mobile app
A rabbitry app that keeps working when the barn has no signal
OmniBurrow's mobile app is an installed app with its own database on the phone. After you sign in and finish the first sync, it reads your rabbits, litters, weights, and health records from the phone and saves supported edits there first. Changes queue up and sync to your account — and the web app — when a connection returns.
The web app needs a connection. The web app is available now; the Android app is in closed testing, and the iOS app is in App Store review.
How offline saving works
When you save a record in the mobile app, it is written to the phone immediately and added to an outbox — a queue of changes waiting for the server. When the phone has a connection, the app sends the queue and pulls down anything changed elsewhere, such as edits made in the web app. It can also sync in the background.
Queued changes are retried until they upload; they are not thrown away. If the same record was changed on two devices, protected fields wait for you to choose which version to keep. See conflict resolution.

Sync once with a connection
Sign in to the mobile app on Wi-Fi and let the first sync finish. The phone now holds its own copy of your herd.

Turn on airplane mode
There is no signal for the rest of the walkthrough.

Open a rabbit and log a weight
The weight saves at once and shows on the rabbit's record, read back from the phone's own database.

See the change waiting
Sync Diagnostics lists the weight as a change waiting to upload.

Turn airplane mode off
The queue uploads on its own within a few seconds. Nothing needs to be re-entered.

Check the web app
Open the same rabbit in the web app: the weight is there.

What works without signal
After the first sync, the mobile app handles day-to-day barn records offline:
- Rabbit and litter records: add, edit, and look up
- Weights and average daily gain
- Health events, treatments, and withdrawal dates
- Recording a sale or selling kits from a litter (queued until you reconnect)
- Tasks, cage-card printing, and QR Barn Scan for weights and health
- Pairing predictions and inbreeding (COI), calculated on the phone
- Program CSV import, read and written on the device
What needs internet
Some features depend on the server by nature and need a connection on every platform:
- Signing in and the first sync
- Pedigree import from a PDF or photo (the document is uploaded)
- Merging duplicate rabbits
- The marketplace, your storefront, and the Willow assistant
- Analytics dashboards
- Export, restore, and account deletion
- Transfers between two OmniBurrow accounts
- Sale receipt emails, which send when the sale reaches the server
- Genotype updates from a newly recorded litter, which happen after it syncs
If account access lapses, the mobile app keeps working on its copy but stops syncing; edits wait on the phone and upload once access is restored. The feature matrix lists every feature by platform and offline support.
